Dad, a very special artwork created to honour my father.

My dad was funny, incredibly quick witted and he always spoke the truth. He carried himself with integrity and was always true to his word. Dad was loud, full of character, vocal and really one of a kind. I miss him terribly.

Mum always thought Dad should have been on sale of the century or who wants to be a millionaire because he was always great at trivia. He was also a dab hand at cards and even after he had commenced treatment for GBM (Glioblastoma, incureable brain cancer) he could still beat us all at up and down the ladder.

I have really fond memories of growing up at Alberton Oval, runing around on the sidelines with my brother and cousins while Dad's beloved Maggies played.

We lived in the Territory for a few years and mum and dad would take us away camping quite regularly. Dad would try and bounce the holden jackeroo up over hills that seemed completely unsafe to climb (my brother, mum and I would often jump out of the car just before Dad started the run up towards the hill LOL) we were all scared but not dad. Dad loved 4 wheel driving and I think he took great pleasure in our terror LOL

When we moved back to South Australia summers were always spent at the beach. We were always down at Aldinga, Port Noarlunga or Silversands. More recently, when dad was no longer able to drive, I would pick him up and we would go for a drive down to Port Noarlunga and back through to Christies. The sun always hits the water just right as you descend the bluff and the last time we did our drive, dad said "I don't think peoplel realise how lucky we are. We have the bet beaches in the world" and he's right. We do.

In September of the year dad passed I had a conversation with him and said that I would really love to paint professionally and sell artwork. Dad's words were "why not".

"Dad" was the first painting I created after dad's passing. It was soothing and cathartic. Despite being completely heartbroken, painting made me feel calm and uplifted.

So this vibrantly bold, chaotic mixed media abstract piece is my tribute to my dad.

Available as high-quality fine art prints, Dad is carefully reproduced to maintain the integrity and vibrancy of the original painting.
