About
Welcome to my colourful little corner of the world! I'm so glad you found me.
I’m a passionate artist living in the beautiful Adelaide foothills with my wonderful husband and our four amazing children. Over the years, I've traded my camera for a paintbrush, transitioning from a wedding photographer (where I spent 10 years capturing love and joy), to a frontline health care worker and an abstract artist who now pours vibrant, bold colours and a whole lot of love onto each artwork I create.
I started painting soon after the birth of our fourth child while trying to navigate some significant post-natal depression. My father had been diagnosed with an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer (GMB) and both of my grandmothers passed in the space of 6 months.
I yearned for a creative outlet that would help me work through my heavy feelings that were often intermixed with our everyday moments of joy. Life can be quite complex can't it.
I have always been drawn to bold vibrant and often neon colours and this passion for colour was always reflected in my photographic work. I was always looking to incorporate as much colour into each image I created and my artwork is now no different.
My art is often mixed media in nature. I prefer to work with heavy body acrylic paints, oil pastels, acrylic inks, crayons and acrylic markers. I am completely self-taught and all artworks are photographed by myself using natural light on my Nikon D4 "Betty", who accompanied me to many weddings.
My mission with this business is threefold: First, to create joyful, colourful, love-filled art that brightens homes and hearts. Secondly, to pay it forward and decorate as many medical facilities as possible and thirdly help raise awareness and hopefully one day a cure for Glioblastoma.
I’m passionate about sharing art with healthcare settings. Art has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood, and uplift both patients and staff morale. I spent months in hospital in 2013 and waited many hours in specialist waiting rooms, I have also worked in a major trauma centre for 7 years and understand both professionally and personally how important it is to personalise and brighten hospital spaces. I want to help decorate hospitals and clinics, giving both our loved ones and healthcare workers something beautiful and joyful to look at during their difficult times.
A portion of every sale will be donated to help raise funds for brain cancer research, in honour of my dad, who we heartbreakingly lost to GBM on December 31st 2024.
GBM (Glioblastoma) is an incurable, aggressive form of brain cancer and treatment options have made little progression. My fathers journey has inspired me to use my art as a means to raise both awareness and funds so that other families don't lose their loved ones to this awful disease. What I wouldn't give for my dad to not have endured what he did.
I feel like my purpose is now to create "joyful art with a purpose". I'm hoping to find myself again, improve my own mental health whilst also sharing love and vibrant colours through paintings around the world.
When telling Dad about my hopes of turning my art into a successful career, dad simply said “Why Not”! So here I am, believing in and backing myself, hoping to make a difference and completely why not-ing it.
Thank you for joining me as I discover my artistic self. Whether you're here for the art, to help support a cause, or simply to add a little more colour and happiness to your life, I’m so glad you’re here.
Let’s sprinkle some love and colourful joy, one loved-up painting at a time!
Much love
Em
