My Why - Art for homes and Medical Centres
In 2012 I endured a health journey that involved many hospital admissions, 5 surgeries, paired with a very long recovery. One of the things that helped me through the long stay in hospital was an array of photos of my family together with artwork that was hung in my hospital room wall.
Every day I was away from my family and home, I would look at these photos and artwork as I was undergoing treatment. Doing so, was not only a wonderful distraction from everything I was enduring but being surrounded by photos and artwork also gave me a sense of normalcy and kept me going on the days I didn't think I was able to.
In more recent years I have worked in a major trauma centre. I understand the profound impact that providing a nurturing, welcoming and loving environment has for both patients and their loved ones.
I have also gained a really good insight into the repetitive stress and emotionally draining nature that comes with working within a hospital setting every day.
I have a goal to fill our hospitals and medical facilities with beautifully bright and colourful artwork to help patients and families with their journeys.
Incorporating art into medical facilities isn't just about decoration—it's about creating an environment that nurtures emotional and psychological well-being for patients, visitors and also staff. The presence of thoughtfully selected artwork can reduce stress, promote healing, enhance the emotional climate, and even contribute to improved patient outcomes.
Art brings warmth, humanity, and hope into spaces that often feel clinical, making it an invaluable part of a holistic healthcare approach.
I would love for you to help me fill our hospitals and medical centres with beautiful and colourful art!
