Be a Rainbow really was the first piece of artwork that I produced that made me feel like I might be able to turn a passion (and therapy) into something more.
Many years ago, an interview by Maya Angelou filtered into my news feed. I stopped and listen to the words Maya spoke. Maya spoke heartfelt words about how they were inspired by an African American song from the 19th century which went "When it looked like the sun wasn't going to shine anymore, god put a rainbow in the clouds. And I've had so many rainbows in my clouds. I've had lots of clouds but I've had so many rainbows."
Maya continues to discuss the impact of kindness that we carry with us throughout our lives. Kindness stays with us.
Since hearing Maya speak, I've carried her words with me and tried to always have this ethos at the core of who I am.
As a result, my artworks have prominent arcs which are my representation of rainbows.
My rainbows represent all the people who have helped make my life the joy that it is.
They are a constant reminder that we don't fully get to experience the highs of the highs, without also fully experiencing the depths of the lows. Something the person who saved my life once said to me.
Rainbows can never be without storms and clouds.
Be a Rainbow was used in my first ever collaboration with Wildwood Adelaide Hills (bespoke hand poured candels) and was also the first piece of art I was able to donate to a healthcare setting.
So Be A Rainbow is so important to me and sentimental for so many reasons.
Be A Rainbow is a hand painted and created mixed media abstract artwork made in stunning South Australia.
A gorgeous mix of teals, pastel blues, neon pinks & yellows. Its name befitting from my favourite quote from Maya Angelou "Be A Rainbow in Somebody Else's Cloud". Words to live by in every sense of the word.
This piece is available as fine art prints. Lovingly reproduced and printed on either museum quality cotton rag paper (Archival Fine Art Paper) or canvas.
This artwork print will be custom made to order by a local Australian Business.
Part proceeds from the sale of this artwork will be donated to help find a cure for Brain Cancer and for this, I give you my heartfelt thanks.
Cotton Rag Prints are produced with a white border.
