The Wedding of Janelle and Troy

It’s funny how the world works. How people come in and out of your life and how in Adelaide there really isn’t six degrees of separation, I swear we are down to maybe two:) Last year in April, Janelle sent me an email which said something along the lines of “I have been given your details by my soon to be mother in law Deb, I believe you know her through your obstetrician and I’m lucky enough to be marrying her son Troy!” This email automatically bought a smile to my face as I have known Deb since we conceived our first son and she would have to be one of the most kind hearted, genuinely happy people I have ever met. If Janelle was marrying one of Deb’s sons it was going to be my pleasure to capture the wonderful day that would be this wedding.

Janelle and I kept in contact during the lead up to her wedding and we discussed nearly every aspect of planning the wedding and somehow we found ourselves talking about building houses. As it turns out, Janelle, Troy and those of us who live in the Sharkey Shack, are now officially neighbours! (What was that I was saying about two degrees of separation???)  Now that we are neighbours, Janelle and Troy have the distinct pleasure of seeing me galloping, or should I say waddling around the block with the two boys in the pram…….. in my Sunday best (insert, just crawled out of bed, looking a fright and trying to wear the munchkins out hoping like heck that nobody sees me ….:))  I can only imagine them looking at one another as I wander down the street thinking “OMG, what have we done, we have hired her???” LOL

We also share a passion for food.  I love to consume food, Janelle loves to serve food and Troy loves to prepare food! Janelle and Troy met whilst both working at the Stamford Plaza when Troy was working as a chef there and Janelle was working front of house. If I remember correctly, their Celebrant Dorinda (who also loves food) mentioned during their ceremony that in the early stages of dating, Janelle and Troy would sneak a kiss every now and then in the service elevator of the Stamford. These guys still have that element of sneaky to their relationship and it’s nice to see that they are still very clearly in love.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings! Introducing Troy….  The first words out of Troy’s mouth were “I don’t like having my photo taken, I’m no good at it”. The below image is the very first image I took of Troy. Troy, I strongly disagree with you and suggest you have a chat with Mr Peter Shearer:)I do believe you have this pose down pat and I may even refer to it from now on as “The Tory”!

Troy’s wedding ring is a family heirloom and has been passed down through generations and was made in 1915. I think it’s such a beautiful sentiment to wear a wedding ring that has family history.

Janelle’s grandmother handmade a garter which included some of the lace from her own wedding dress. This was “Janelle’s something old”.

Melody and Ebony from Crazy Beautiful did the girls hair and makeup.

The beautiful team at Fabulous Functions, did a superb job with all of the flowers for the day.

I don’t think I have ever seen such a beaming mother of the groom before:)

Or proud Mother of the Bride

One of the things that I really love about what I do and the industry I work in is the connections I have made with fellow industry people. I have built such a wonderful rapport with some well known and respected, like minded folk who I now, have the honor of  referring to as friends. Kiera from Rapture Events and Designs is one of these people and I must give her a huge shout out this week. Kiera has had an unwell little man (something in the water) who has been hospitalised recently but not only this,  unfortunately Kiera found herself in hospital this week and was only discharged on Friday evening. The last person I expected to see running around on Saturday setting up ceremony areas and ensuring reception rooms are absolutely perfect for her clients, was Kiera.  Kiera your work is absolute perfection every single time I have the pleasure of working with you and it’s for this very reason why I refer all of my clients through to you. I know that no matter what, when the going get’s tough you still manage to get the job done and do it so very well. Hat’s off honey!

Janelle and Troy, I don’t think I can top the three wishes that Dorinda and your guests have for you. Wishing you health because it is the only thing in the world that really does matter. Happiness and fertility but perhaps maybe not two sets of twins though! LOL.  I really hope you have an amazing time away in Thailand but more importantly that your journey through life together be magical and full of wonderful memories. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll be seeing you guys walking the streets with the twins in your Sunday best too!
