I just don’t know where to begin writing this blog post. My head is still in a swirl from everything I saw on Saturday and as I said on my Facebook page, this wedding in particular left me in a pretty happy haze!
I think I’m going to start at the beginning, the beginning of Anne and Dav’s relationship. I’m a sentimental old romantic, I believe in fate, I believe that everyone has a soule mate and I believe that two people when together, can make the perfect couple…. This is where I introduce you to Dav and Anne. Anne and Dav met quite randomly down at Glenelg after Anne thought Dav was somebody else that she had a crush on (giggle). They had a quick chat on the street and then went their separate ways. A few weeks later, Anne (then 17) was using the old version of Facebook ICQ (now there’s a blast from the past all you net geeks raise your hand with moi) and started chatting with someone who popped up on chat. Anne and the new “someone” who popped in to chat chatted for a few nights and found that they got along quite well. They then exchanged photos, only to realise that they had in fact been standing face to face with each other at Glenelg only a week or so ago when the case of mistaken identity played out!!! :) Doesn’t this happy fate filled story just make you want to exhale “Naaaaaaaw”
Now just when you think their real life love story couldn’t get any sweeter, let me tell you about Dav’s romantic proposal. You see Dav plays football, he has some great manly mates (DESPITE the fact that I saw quite a few of them sipping champers together at the wedding… LOL) but deep down inside, he is quite a sweetheart and certainly knew how to go all out when asking Anne to be his wife. On the morning of Anne’s 25th birthday, she awoke to an e-card, wishing her a happy birthday and a little message advising her that she had to go find Dav for her birthday present. Upon finding Dav, she was presented with another note telling her she was about to be taken on an adventure, together with a list of things she was required to pack. Dav then went and organised a platter for lunch which included all Anne’s favourite foods, whisked her away to a penthouse suite. After they settled into the suite and began their lunch, there was a knock at the door and the couple were presented with champagne and strawberries! Now the real deal clincher, Dav had meticulously compiled a slide show with the couples favourite songs and every single image of the two of them together on DVD and this was playing now on the flat screen! At the end of the slide show were the words “Anne, you know how much I love you…….. I can’t wait to start a family with you …… Will you Marry me?”
The wedding of Anne and Davin I think I can safely say was South Australia’s version of a Kardashian wedding! Glamorous, sophisticated and the type of event that could be put together and carried off by a wedding planner. I’m confident that Anne has had a particular vision for her wedding for quite some time. I remember when Anne and I first spoke about her wedding and she and Dav weren’t yet engaged! She’s a woman of my own heart, a meticulous planner and somebody who knows exactly what they want and how they are going to go about getting it.
Anne is the owner and manager of Elegant Event Management and this is the second time I have had the pleasure of working with her for a wedding (the first time being Emily and Mark’s, wedding late last year). I was stoked beyond belief that an Adelaide wedding planner had picked me to photograph their wedding. It certainly left me doing lots and lots of happy dancing
I had it in the back of my mind that working with a wedding and event planner for with one of their own functions, especially their own wedding could go one or two ways. It would either go swimmingly well with everything pulled together perfectly and beautifully or I could have a very emotionally drained, exhausted and stressed bride on my hands. Anne somehow managed to pull together a wedding which had enough detail and pretty things to make everyone swoon but not only that, it was a sophisticated gorgeous well thought out event AND Anne was as cool as a cucumber! She even seemed to be having a ball! She was the epitome of calm and a true professional. I know Anne had some very special people helping her with all her preparation and I would like to say a little big THANK YOU to these people for being Anne’s fairy helpers. Having a happy calm bride certainly makes my job all the more easier!
NOW, enough of my dribble! I’m here to show photos not write an essay (who would have though hey). Behold……. the beauty that is Anne and Davin’s wedding!

Anne’s beautiful flowers were created by one of my favourite SA Wedding Florists, Sam from Fabulous Functions.

The colours for Anne and Dav’s wedding were Green, White and Black. I was most impressed when I arrived at where the girls were preparing for the day, only to note that the house was decorated with white and black! (thank you Katherine LOL)

Anne and Dav ordered their entire wedding stationery and paper range from Invitations only and it is themost gorgeous range of stationery I have worked with. It included save the date cards, RSVP cards and the gorgeous green damask type pattern was repeated throughout the wedding on all of the paper accessories.

Lauren Parkinson was Anne’s makeup artist and despite working with Lauren for many weddings, this was the first time we actually met! It was lovely to finally meet you Lauren and gorgeous work as always.

Anne and Davin opted to do what us photography folk refer to as a First Look. It’s where the bride and groom meet each other, in private prior to the ceremony taking place. It provides the couple with time, just for them, alone on their wedding day and also provides me as the photographer to capture some special, moments when they see each other for the very first time. It also has a really nice way of setting the tone of the day. Instead of the bridal party toddling off for their creative photography directly following the ceremony, they are able to relax and mingle with their guests and enjoy much more of the wedding day with each other in the company of those they love.

Then onto some creative photography!

The ceremony and reception were both held at Yangarra Estate Vineyard in Kangarilla. A truly gorgeous secluded location.

Richard Lawley from I Do Forever is one of my favourite celebrants to work with. His ceremony’s are personal and each one of them heartfelt.

There is something so special about this sisterly embrace. The emotion on Anne’s sister’s face and Anne touching her sisters belly, a gesture of recognition and love felt towards her unborn niece or nephew.

Before heading up to the Marquee, we had time to squeeze in some scrummy food from La Dolce Vita Catering and seeing as how the light and location were perfect, a few more quick creative photos.

Anne had one of her dear school friends Josh as her “bridesman”

The first section of the marquee was sectioned off by a ribbon curtain to form an entry lounge with ottomans and scattered green and black cushions. The entry area also contained a coat room where guests could hang their coats and a table filled with family wedding images.

Venue productions worked with Anne to create gorgeous styling and lighting throughout the clear span marquee.

No wedding is complete without a Cake dessert table, Coffee Bar or Cheese Bar!!!!

Anne and Dav your love for one another is beautiful to see. The friends and family that you choose to surround yourself speak volumes of the type of people that you are. I hope you had as much fun as I did on your wedding day. I truly felt honoured and humbled to be invited to witness something so beautiful. I wish you both every happiness possible in your journey through life!
Much love
